InTER-ACT
Three live online sessions, every week
Learn new ways of managing difficult thoughts and feelings and how to do more of what matters to you.

Who is it for?
If you’re struggling with difficult thoughts and feelings, our inTER-ACT webinars can help you to learn new ways of managing them. InTER-ACT is for individuals aged 9-25 across Gloucestershire whether you’re having counselling or not. We recommend giving it a go before making a request for counselling or while you’re on the waiting list.
What happens in the sessions?
Sessions are live streamed using ZOOM. Talk Well presenters use slides and videos through the sessions. You will have the chance to take part in anonymous polls and quizzes and try out some useful skills and tips. Or you can just watch if you prefer!
Taking part in the sessions means you have read and agreed our Terms of Use
InTER-ACT is not a place where young people can talk with someone one-to-one about their current experiences, if this is needed, we have other services such as counselling and TalkWellChat.
Will anyone see or hear me?
All cameras and microphones are turned off so no one will be able to see or hear you, but you will be able to see and hear the presenters. You can also private message the presenters if you have any questions, however, you won’t be able to chat privately to other young people.
InTER-ACT is not a crisis service
In an emergency, please call emergency services on 999. Further support can be found on our resources page.

About the InTER-ACT live online webinars
Sessions are best completed in order, i.e. session 1, then 2, then 3. If you miss a session, you can book onto the next available session and then continue. They can be repeated as often as you like!
Week 1 – ‘Thoughts Are Just Thoughts’
Have you ever wondered why your thoughts are often so negative? In this workshop we’re going to learn why our minds tend to jump to the worst-case scenario, plus how easy it is to get caught up in these unhelpful experiences. We’ll then introduce you to a technique to help you get untangled from these thoughts.
Week 2 – ‘Connecting to the Moment’
How easy do you find it to focus on what’s happening right now? Following on from our first workshop, we’re going to learn about how our minds often drift back to the past or skip forward to the future, and how this can create difficult feelings for us in the present. We’ll then talk about the benefits of connecting to the moment and techniques that can help us to do this.
Week 3 – ‘Taking Steps Towards What Matters’
In the last of our InTER-ACT workshops, we’ll discuss values – what they are, why they’re important and how to take small steps towards them. We will then bring together everything we’ve learnt to help improve your wellbeing.

InTER-ACT is a wellbeing program designed to help us change the way we interact with difficult thoughts and feelings so we can do more of what matters to us. The program has been carefully developed by clinical psychologists, and evaluated and revised based on research including feedback from young people. There are three one-hour workshops that take place over a three-week period. These are called: “Thoughts are Just Thoughts”, “Connecting to the Moment” and “Values”.
Anyone aged 9-25 in Gloucestershire can book onto the InTER-ACT sessions, however they will be most helpful for young people who want to learn more about why we all have tricky minds and how best to respond to unhelpful thoughts and feelings. InTER-ACT is not a place where young people can talk with someone one-to-one about their current experiences, if this is needed, we have other services such as counselling and TalkWellChat.
InTER-ACT sessions occur throughout the year and future dates can be seen on our booking page. All sessions run in the evening from 6:00pm until 7:00pm and from 7:30pm until 8:30pm.
Each workshop is approximately 45 minutes long.
When you join the workshop through the Zoom link, you will be taken straight to the webinar where the presenters will greet you. You will not be able to see anyone, aside from the presenters. The presenters will introduce themselves, deliver the workshop and answer any comments or questions that come up during the session. There will be a presentation for you to look at, as well as polls and activities for you to take part in throughout the session. When the session ends, you will be asked to complete a number of questions about how you experienced the workshop, your answers will help us decide what we offer in future. At the end of the session, you will also be reminded how to book future sessions.
No, your camera and microphone, along with all other young people’s cameras and microphones will be automatically turned off. Your name will not be displayed either. The only people you will be able to see will be the facilitators of the InTER-ACT session.

We also share anonymised information with researchers from universities who use it to study the impact and effect of the workshops and follow all legal requirements for this. No identifiable information will ever be shared outside of our organisation for research purposes.

Any online polls, questionnaires or feedback forms you complete will be anonymous. We use the information we gather to improve our service but we will never use any information that may identify you.
If you tell our presenters anything worrying, we must act in your best interests to keep you safe and/or to protect you. Keeping what you say confidential is really important to us, and we’ll only think about telling other people in extremely rare cases. For instance, if we’re very worried about your or someone else’s safety or if we’re told we have to by law, for example for a court case. If we think we might need to tell someone, we’ll always talk to you about it first, we would work with you to agree every step we may take and why. However, we may need to act to protect you or another person without your consent if necessary or if you are unable to give consent. If you are currently having counselling from Talk Well we would also need to let your counsellor know.
